How to Keep Your Red Hair from Fading!

At Salon Cartier, we understand hair color. We know that when you choose a hair color, like red hair, you want to keep it red! Here are a few tips to keep that great hair color.

First things first, no matter what color you desire your hair to be, it is a must to get it done professionally – especially when going red. Department store box color is not going to do anything for you but damage your hair due to the extremely high percentages of ammonia and the containment of aluminum which coats the hair and prevents the color from staying. Be good to your hair and leave it to the experts, we know what we are doing!

After leaving the salon with beautiful, healthy red hair, do not wash it for about 3 days to help the color set. Because this might be hard for some, I recommend dry shampoo or a dusting powder to soak up your oils to help make your hair feel clean.

When it does come time to wash use a color-safe, sulfate free shampoo & conditioner. I myself use Color Lover moisture by Framesi. It has a 95% retention rate, is sulfate free, parabon free, and vegan! Try not to wash everyday and go every two or three days instead.

Using a thermal and UV care product maximizes the longevity of your hair color. I would recommend 7 Seconds by UNITE. It is a leave-in conditioner, UV protector, and thermal protector.

Investing in a glaze every 4-6 weeks is a major step in keeping your red vibrant and fresh! A glaze is a semi-permanent color that protects your hair from UV (sun), thermal tools, holds in moisture, shine and helps stop damage and seals the cuticle to make your color last longer!
