Proper Maintenance for Hair Extensions

At Salon Cartier, we’re sure to stay up to date on the latest styles and especially any tips to help you feel great about your hair.

In this post, we want to share some tips for proper extension maintenance and care. Check out these tips:

Be sure to use professional sulfate free shampoo and conditioner – if not, it can break down adhesive
Use detangler and thermal care products – my favorite is 7 seconds from Unite with a wide tooth comb working your way up from ends to mid shaft keep away from roots
When styling, be sure to keep any kind of alcohol or oil based products away from roots where extensions are placed
You can use a round brush or flat brush but avoid any brushes with balls at the end of bristles – the best brushes are boar bristle
Avoid going to bed with wet hair – at the very least, power dry your roots
Braid hair or bust out those old scrunches and place into loose pony tail while sleeping –this will prevent matting
To keep extensions vibrant, occasionally get a glossing treatment also called a glaze at Salon Cartier – this helps prolong the use and revitalize dullness
Don’t wait any longer than 2 months to move up extensions – if you do, it can have too much out growth and can jeopardize natural hair – all totally preventable
