How To Take Care Of Long Hair – 7 Expert Tips

If you have beautiful long hair, you want to keep it that way! If you think about it, your hair has been on your head for literally years. Here are 7 expert tips on how to take care of long hair and keep it healthy and shiny!

How to take care of long hair

#1 – Get a Haircut!

We recommend getting trims every 6-8 weeks. This will help your hair stay healthy, and help you avoid having to get multiple inches taken off due to split-ends.

#2 – Use a Heat Protector

Always use a heat protector! We recommend Unite’s 7 Seconds Detangler. It’s a detangler, heat protector, UV protector, is weightless, and helps control frizz.

#3 – Use a Wet Brush

A wet brush is designed with soft bristles to detangle without adding tension.

#4 – Condition Your Hair

Have a glaze added on to your next haircut appointment! It adds shine, shuts down the cuticle, contains thermal protection, replenishes moisture.

#5 – Wash Your Hair Correctly

If you wash your hair every other day, be sure to shampoo once, concentrating the shampoo at your roots, and then rinse. Then when conditioning, put your hair in a ponytail and only condition the ponytail, then rinse.

You can use dry shampoo on the 2nd or 3rd day (or whenever your hair gets dirty) to help absorb the oils in your hair.

#6 – Blow Dry Properly

Before using your round brush, be sure to blow dry your hair about 70 – 80% helping to reduce strain on your hair.

#7 – Don’t Forget Sleep!

Sleep with your hair in a bun or braid to avoid your hair tangling. This will save you time and your hair will thank you for it.
