Changing Make-Up with Hair Color
Do you like to change your hair color with the changing seasons?
If you do, make sure your switch up your make-up routine or your new look could fall flat.
Here are some tips to always keeping your hair color and make-up in harmony.
Dark Brown and Black-
If you’ve gone darker with your hair, your make-up options are pretty wide open. Try a dark smokey eye with a touch of jewel-toned liner and bold lashes. If you play up the eyes make sure to keep the lips more nude or neutral.
Make sure to sweep on a golden bronzer to ensure your new darker look doesn’t wash you out. If you’re wanting to play with a darker lip, soften up the eyes to keep your look from becoming too harsh.
Medium to Light Brown-
If you’ve darkened your hair to a medium or light brown or have added highlights to your darker brown locks, you’ll want to go a little more natural with your make-up.
Try a more nude shimmer on the eyes with golden brown accents. Bring out your natural radiance with highlighters and bronzers with a peachy glow. If you want to add a pop of color, play with a stained red lip.
Reds-
With reds you really want to let your hair stand out. To enhance your new hair color play with green, bronze and gold shades on the eyes with a peachy-pink or apricot cheek.
For darker reds you can turn up the intensity but for lighter reds you’ll want to stick to more sheer pigments and brown liners. You don’t want the colors in your make-up fighting with the vibrant color in your hair.
Blondes-
For blondes you’re going to want to soften your look. Try olive and gold on the eyes with brown liners and accents. Use a golden or peach bronzer along the cheeks and forehead to enhance your natural warmth.
A golden brown lip or a sheer berry lip gloss is a great way to finish off the look. Blondes should stay away from too much black or dark lips to avoid becoming washed out.
*Don’t forget to consider the TONE of your new hair color! Whether blonde, brown or red, the tone of your color will drastically effect the make-up you can wear as well.
Cooler toned hair colors will want to stick to cooler colors in their make-up where as a color with more warmth to it will be enhanced by warmer tones in the make-up.
For example, when trying a red lip, a golden blonde would want to stick more to a coral or tawny red, while a cooler platinum blonde would look better with a more blue-red shade.
